6U & 7U WINTER BASEBALL TRAINING ACADEMY

January 6 – February 24

Every Wednesday Night, 6:00pm-7:00pm

The South Charlotte Sports Report proudly announces a unique 8 week Winter Training Baseball Program for 6 and 7 year old baseball players.  The South Charlotte Sports Report Winter Training Academy will be held for 8 consecutive Wednesday nights inside the brand new, 50,000 square foot Carolinas Baseball Center.  Young baseball players will receive instruction from professional baseball instructors and have the opportunity to build a strong fundamental foundation to enhance their development.

The Winter Baseball Training Academy focus will include:

  • Proper Batting Stance - “Ride the Horse”
  • Fundamentals of the Swing - “Squish the bug and show the belly button”
  • Fielding Techniques - “Wide Base, tail down, hands out front, now eat Alligator”
  • Throwing Mechanics - “Shuffle, shuffle, throw, follow, high five”
  • Proper Running Motion - “How to run the bases”
  • Situational Training - “What to do with and without the ball”
  • At-home Drills for Mom or Dad - “How can I help my child in the backyard?”

This Winter Training Academy is designed to provide professional instruction in a first class indoor facility with top baseball instructors.  Parents will have the opportunity to learn proper teaching techniques from the instructors to allow for consistent instruction at home.  Baseball players will work in groups based on their current experience level.

The South Charlotte Sports Report 6U and 7U Winter Training Academy Instructors will include:

Jeff Schaefer, Co-owner of Carolinas Baseball Center and a former major league infielder with the Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox and Oakland A’s.  Following his 14 year professional career, Jeff settled in Charlotte and began to share his knowledge of the game with area youth. He is considered to be among the top hitting and fielding instructors in the country.

Kyle Shelton, Chicago White Sox minor league infielder.  Kyle graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and played baseball on many of the same fields area youngsters play on today.  After graduating from South Mecklenburg, Kyle played in three College World Series tournaments with The University of North Carolina Tar Heels. 

Tripp Roakes, Owner of The South Charlotte Sports Report and veteran youth coach.  Tripp has worked in youth sports for more than 25 years and learned baseball instruction from some of the top instructors in North Carolina.  Tripp is a strong believer in building baseball players through repetitive drills and fundamental instruction.

All instruction will take place inside the Carolinas Baseball Center facility which includes a brand new synthetic turf surface, 7 batting cages, five soft toss areas, 5 pitching mounds and the very best teaching equipment available today.  Parents may relax in the television lounge or sit inside the viewing area to watch their child learn from the pros.

Space is limited in the 6U & 7U Winter Baseball Training Academy and once the class is full, enrollment will be closed to insure the very best experience possible.
